What is the Cliffs at Princeville?
It is a mixed-use resort condominium developed in the early 80s. Our 202 units situated on 22 acres are built on a secluded bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean. 129 of these units are organized into two timeshare programs with almost 7,000 individual owners. The remaining 73 units are individually owned, the majority of which are used as vacation rentals.
When was the last renovation and are any planned for the future?
Renovations at the Cliffs are a continuous process. There was a property wide renovation that began as a result of Hurricane Iniki in 1992. The renovation cost 8 million dollars and was completed in 2001.
In 2007 we began an ambitious renovation program of all 129 timeshare units on property. This project included an entire transformation of the unit with new furniture, art work, drapes, electronics and appliances. Also included were new ceramic floors in the entry, kitchen and bathrooms. In addition, new wood flooring was installed in the living rooms and dining room. The units have been repainted with a new interior color scheme to coordinate with our new furniture and accessories. By October of 2010 we completed units in 8 of the 9 residential buildings and will complete the last building in the summer of 2011. We will take a year off and then start all over again assuring our guests and owners a quality product and experience.
Our pool facility was completed in June of 2009 and has 3 separate pools with waterfalls set in a lush tropical environment. There is also an area to swim laps. The keiki (children's) pool is very popular with its waterfalls and water squirts and often times find the Mom's and Dad's having just as much fun as the keiki. We have two heated Jacuzzis, one common just off the main pool and an adult facility located away from the swimming area.
We are also developing a master landscaping plan with a theme to preserve endangered native Hawaiian species of trees, plants and shrubs. The plan will incorporate a nature trail, a Hawaiian food garden, and a medicinal herb garden all set amid the eastern valley adjacent to the residential buildings. This is an effort to preserve and restore Native Hawaiian ecosystem that are disappearing as a result of urban expansion and development. It is our ultimate goal to have our landscaping create and interactive ambiance that will be a major contributor to a positive guest experience.
We are also working to bring solar photovoltaic systems to each of our buildings. The administration building is already using solar energy we look to expand by adding more capacity property wide. We are doing our part to keep Hawaii green!
Where do I check in and what are the hours of the Front Desk?
As you enter The Cliffs at Princeville drive, drive to the end of the lane and turn right. You will see Hale Mana Ho'oko (administration building) on the immediate right. Come in and see our beautiful new administration building and wide open lobby that greets you. The front desk is open 7am – 10 pm.
What if I will be arriving after hours?
If you arrive after hours, there is a button and intercom line to the right of the front doors that connects you to security. They will check you in. If you do arrive after hours, please go to the front desk the next morning to properly check in.
Does your resort have elevators?
We do not have any elevators. All one-bedroom units are located on the first and second floors. All one bedrooms with loft units are located on the third floor. If there is any concern regarding your ability to climb stairs, please inform our Reservations Department at the time you book your reservation so that we can make proper arrangements for room assignments.
Do you have units available for those with disabilities?
Yes, we have some units that are ADA compliant. When you register, please be specific regarding your needs and our friendly staff will work with you to reserve the appropriate unit that meets your needs.
Are the units air-conditioned?
Our units are not equipped with air conditioners, however, they are equipped with ceiling fans and portable fans are available upon request. Due to the location of our resort (on a cliff overlooking the ocean), our units get the benefit of the prevailing trade winds. Our average annual temperatures are 77-79 degrees. Most of our visitors find this a very comfortable temperature.
Do you have Internet capabilities?
Yes, we have worked hard to get all units on wireless internet. Feel free to bring your laptop computers or use the ones at the customer service desk. A few units may still need the cable connections. There is also a printer in the customer service area to print out boarding passes. In-room internet access is free of charge.
Is smoking allowed?
Our buildings are smoke-free environments. We do have some smoking areas on the perimeters of the property for our smoking friends. They are clearly marked and we do insist our guests use these areas if smoking on the premises.
What about other activities such as golf, boat rides, horseback riding, kayak rides?
We have a great activities desk that can help you design the perfect vacation. Check in with the concierge desk at extension x2005 or check it out online. Our concierge can help you have these activities arranged before you get here, so you are sure to have first choice of the times you desire.
